Salvation Army Responds To California Fires

The Salvation Army is continuing to feed Kincade Fire evacuees in Napa, San Rafael and Petaluma. So far, the nonprofit has served approximately 6,000 meals in just a week. We are currently serving at four shelters and provided breakfast to a church this morning. We deployed a new crew to the response effort. The Roseville Emergency Disaster Services canteen deployed early this morning to relieve some of the crews which have been working nonstop over the past week to help thousands of evacuees.

At time of release, CAL FIRE reported the Kincade Fire at more than 76,000 acres and was 30% contained. It started Wednesday evening northeast of Geyserville. The fire agency reported at least 206 structures have been destroyed and 40 others damaged. More than 4,800 fire personnel are working to keep this fire from spreading into heavily populated areas. As one of the nationā€™s major emergency relief organizations, The Salvation Army is on the ground before, during and after a disaster strikes. When the Kincade Fire broke out early Friday morning, the nonprofit was ready to respond quickly and efficiently.
