The May 17th Special Election has many candidates on the ballot. There are 37 running for Governor alone with 17 being Democrat and 19 Republicans. Most of the candidates are from the Portland/Metro/Salem area but there are a couple from the coast, Gold Beach and Bandon and one from Bend. Another race that has several candidates is for Lincoln County Commissioner. Por position 1, currently held by Doug Hunt who is not running for re-election, there are 5 candidates.
These include Mitch Parsons of Lincoln City, Greg Holland of Waldport, Casey Miller, Carter McEntee and Walter Chuck, all from Newport. For County Commissioner position 3 there are 4 candidates. Kaety Jacobson of Newport the incumbent, Ryan Parker of South Beach, Mark Watkins of Newport and Randy Mallette of Otis. And running for State Representative District 10 is Democrat David Gomberg incumbent from Neotsu and Republican Celeste McEntee of Newport is running against him. Ballots will be mailed out April 27th.
