State/County Coronavirus Update

Updated: May 28, 2020

Lincoln County has had 9 positive cases and 1 presumptive case. The presumptive case turned out to be negative. There have been 1,391 tests and 1,381 of those have been negative. There has only been one hospitalization, and that was out of county and 8 have recovered. Lincoln County has not had any deaths from the Coronavirus. The state is watching trends and the county can apply to enter phase 2 next week on June 4th. The state has a total of 4038 cases and the death toll for Oregon is 148

According to the Oregon Health Authorities Covi -19 weekly report there has been recorded 289 new cases of COVID-19 infection last week, a 26 percent drop from the previous week, while tests reported rose by five percent to 17,214. The percentage of those tests which came back positive fell to 1.7 percent. Percentage positive is a key indicator that epidemiologists track in understanding the spread of the disease.

The lower the percentage positive the better. Regrettably, deaths rose by 10 last week, to 148 people since the beginning of the outbreak. New this week in the Weekly Report is a breakdown of where Oregonians are hospitalized with COVID-19. The data, which are based on voluntary hospital reporting, show hospitals with 10 or more cases with specific numbers while hospitals with fewer than 10 hospitalized COVID-19 patients are listed without specific numbers. Lincoln County has two mobile test sites, one in Depoe Bay and one in Waldport. A doctors order is required to get tested.
