State Police Respond To Car Crashes


On 07/28/2022 at approximately 9:58PM a White Sedan was traveling southbound on hwy 101 just south of Depoe Bay when the driver lost control causing the vehicle to roll over. The 17-year old driver was transported to Samaritan Pacific Communities hospital by ambulance due to complaint of injury. The vehicle was towed by Coast Towing and the highway was reopened.


On 07/30/22 a purple Honda SUV was traveling north on highway 101 near Cape Purpetua when the driver of the vehicle 25-year old Jacob Thompson fell asleep and the SUV drifted onto the shoulder then travelled up a rock ledge causing it to roll onto its top back into the highway. Thompson was uninjured.


On 07/31/22 a white ford hatchback was westbound on hwy 229 attempting to turn off of the highway onto a gravel shoulder on the south side of the highway near mile post 1. A red ford ranger pickup was westbound behind the white ford and attempted to pass the white ford while it was turning. The ford ranger crashed into the drivers side of the white ford hatchback. Both drivers were uninjured.


On 8/2/22 at approximately 6:09 am State Police Trooper Wertz was dispatched to a single vehicle crash, involving a gray Toyota Tacoma, which occurred on US 20 near mile post 4. The Toyota was westbound and approaching the intersection of Tom Jack Rd when, for an unknown reason, it veered off the westbound shoulder into a deep drainage ditch. The truck continued up out of the ditch, across Tom Jack Rd, and down into an adjacent field, coming to an uncontrolled rest against a fence. The 19-year old driver was transported to Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital for complaint of pain. Fatigue was believed to be a contributing factor in the cause of the crash.


On 8/3/22 a Chevy Impala was traveling eastbound on hwy-34 when the rear passenger side tire failed. The 18-year old driver attempted to maintain control of the vehicle, but ended up sideswiping a reflector on the side of the highway, causing minor damage to her vehicle. The vehicle was drivable and the driver was uninjured.


On 8/4/22 at approximately 11:30AM an eastbound purple van attempted to overtake an eastbound yellow log truck near milepost 31 of US Highway 20. The purple van collided with the front left quarter panel of the log truck and rotated. The van rotated and skid through the westbound lane and crashed into trees on the westbound shoulder. The driver of the van 58-year old Carman A. Farias of Salem was transported to Corvallis Good Samaritan Hospital. She was also cited for careless driving. The driver of the log truck reported no injuries. Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, ODOT and Toledo Fire assisted at the scene.
