State Police Respond To Crashes And DUII


The driver of a Subaru was stopped for a moving violation by state police trooper Kolacaz observed signs of impairment. During voluntary field sobriety test the driver, identified as 35-year old Vanessa D. Boughton continued to show signs of impairment and was arrested for DUII. She was transported to the Lincoln City Police Department where she provided a breath sample indicating a 0.06% blood alcohol content. She also reportedly admitted to smoking marijuana shortly before driving and agreed that was a causal factor in her impairment. The driver submitted to a urine test. The driver did not want to work with a drug recognition expert. She was cited and released for DUII – Alcohol and Cannabis.


On 5/28/22 a Kia Forte was stopped for a traffic violation on US-101 at Depoe Bay. After an investigation the driver, identified as 25-year old Yair D Cruz-Melo of Lincoln City was arrested for DUII.. He consented to breath test and had a blood alcohol content of .15%. He was cited and released for DUII.


On 5/28/22 at approximately 3:22 pm state police trooper Wertz was dispatched to a two vehicle crash which occurred at the intersection of US 101 and East Devil's Lake Rd north of Lincoln City. Investigation showed the driver of white Toyota Corolla was turning left from a stop sign on East Devil's Lake Rd to proceed south on US 101 when it was struck in the driver side by a red Jeep Wrangler, as it traveled northbound on US 101. Both vehicles were disabled and came to an uncontrolled rest blocking the southbound lane and turn lane of US 101. The driver of the Toyota and a passenger of the Jeep were transported to North Lincoln Hospital and treated for serious injuries. The driver of Toyota was cited.
