State Police Respond To Multiple Crashes


On 4/21/23 at approximately 3PM a subject was reportedly driving recklessly, westbound on US Highway 20 from milepost 30. Several witnesses reported the subject driving a maroon Toyota Tundra, passing on double yellow lines, passing on corners and tailgating. State Police Trooper Katsikis stopped the driver identified as 35-year old Michael A Chartrey of Coquille was cited and released for reckless driving.


On 04/22/2023 a Black SUV was traveling south on highway 101 near Lost Creek State Park when radar checked the SUV at 78mph in a 55mph. The SUV was found in the Ona beach State Park where it had driven through grass and hit a tree and appeared to be ditched. The driver was located and idntified as 37-year old Ikemefula U. Ofoegbu. He was arrested on multiple charges including reckless driving, failure to perform the duties of a driver in an accident involving property damage and criminal mischief 2.


On 4/22/23 State Police Trooper Nathman responded to a single vehicle crash on highway 18. Upon arriving, the roadway evidence and strong odor of alcohol coming from the driver, identified as 55-year old Daniel P. Sheehan suggested he was impaired. Mr. Sheehan originally refused medical treatment, but after being asked to perform field sobriety tests felt that it would be best to go to the hospital. He consented to a blood draw but then refused as the Phlebotomist was preparing to draw his blood. A warrant was applied for and obtained, and a sample of the driver's blood was taken, and the original hospital sample was seized. When released from the hospital Sheehan was transported to the Lincoln County Jail, where he was lodged on charges of DUII and reckless driving. His dog was lodged at the Lincoln County Animal Shelter. Yamhill County Sheriff's Office, North Lincoln Fire, Pacific West Ambulance, and ODOT assisted on scene.


On 4/24/23 State Police Trooper Nathman responded to a call of a single vehicle crash with a Dodge Durango being in a ditch on Highway 101 in Yachats. Upon arriving, the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, identified as 35-year old Tyson T. Salmon Harris of Waldport exhibited signs of impairment. He consented to performing field sobriety tests and performed poorly. He was taken into custody and transported to the Lincoln County Jail, where he

provided a breath sample of .17 Blood Alcohl Content, over twice the legal limit. Mr. Salmon Harris was lodged in jail on the crime on DUII.
