At 11:18am on August 3, 2020 a neighbor reported seeing smoke coming from the back of the location. Upon arrival of Central Oregon Coast Fire and Seal Rock Fire’s engine at 11:23am, it was observed that there were active flames from the roof of the structure. Crews immediately went into action and entered the structure to locate the seat of the fire. Yachats Fire arrived on scene at 11:34am to assist in attack operations. The fire had made its way thru the entirety of the attic space of the structure.
Newport Fire arrived on scene at 11:46am to also assist. Interior and Exterior crew rotations over the next 4 hours got the fire under control and put out. The scene was turned over to the Oregon State Fire Marshal and the fire investigation team at 3:48pm. The cause is currently under investigation. Pacific West Ambulance and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s office also assisted on scene. There were no injuries reported of civilians or emergency personnel and no other surrounding structures and vegetation were adversely affected.
