On Saturday, October 21, 2023, at 3:27 a.m., the Oregon State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Hwy-101, near the Tillamook Creamery. The preliminary investigation indicated a southbound Dodge Ram, operated by a 17- year old juvenile, veered into the northbound lane and struck a Toyota Tundra, operated by 30-year old Christopher Frank Armitage of Garibaldi, head-on.
The 17-year old was declared deceased at the scene, she was not wearing a seatbelt. The operator of the Toyota suffered serious injuries and was transported to the Tillamook hospital for treatment. The highway was impacted for approximately five hours during the on-scene investigation. OSP was assisted by the Tillamook Police Department, Tillamook Fire, and ODOT.
