Toledo Police Help Recover Stolen Firearms

On May 5th, 2025 Toledo Police Officer Gaughan became involved in an investigation at a temporary residence near NW Industrial Way. Through the investigation Officer Gaughan located and seized a total of 11 firearms which had been reported stolen in an out of state burglary. Officer Gaughan obtained a list of all items seized from the burglary and located additional items which were stolen during the commission of the burglary.
On August 31st, 2025 an alert citizen located three additional firearms stashed in an outdoor location near Toledo JC Market. Officer Gaughan met with the citizen and seized the firearms, which had also been reported stolen from the out of state burglary. The Newport Police Department has also seized a firearm which had been stolen during the burglary. It is believed all firearms stolen from the burglary have been recovered. This case is being investigated by the ATF and we are unable to provide further information at this time.
On September 1st, 2025 Sergeant Pitcher conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle operated by Robert Louis Lerch, of Toledo. Through the course of the traffic stop Lerch was found to be unlawfully in possession of a Ruger SR1911 .45 ACP. It was later determined the firearm had been reported stolen from a victim out of Newport in 2022. Mr. Lerch was taken into custody and transported to the Lincoln County Jail where he was lodged on charges related to possession of the firearm.
On September 8th, 2025 Detective Shinholster responded to a disturbance at a location on Main Street. Through investigation it was discovered Mark Alan Ghormley, of Eddyville, had displayed and pointed a firearm at three victims after creating a disturbance in a local business. After obtaining information from the victims, Detective Shinholster was able to locate Ghormley who was taken into custody on the charges of Menacing x3, Unlawful Possession of Firearms, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Pointing a Firearm at Another x3 and lodged at the Lincoln County Jail.
