Traffic Delays As Sewer Main Improvement Project Gets Underway

Road work has begun on Phase 2 of the Nelscott Pressure Gravity Sewer Main Improvement Project. This infrastructure improvement will replace approximately 1900 Ft of Water and Sewer lines.  The project continues in front of Taft Elementary-Middle School South on SE High School Dr and then Turns East on SE 48th Place. Currently crews are working on SE High School Drive, south of Taft Elementary School during the day with possible traffic delays. Taft Elementary School to SE 48th Place will be closed from 7:00 am – 6:00 pm.

Starting July 7, SE High School Drive from Taft Elementary School to SE 48th Place will be closed completely. Once that phase of the road construction is complete, SE High School Drive will reopen. The road work will then move to SE 48th Place. That section of road will be closed completely between SE High School Drive and SE Jetty Avenue. Construction work should last up to Labor Day Weekend. The closure is to accommodate the Nelscott Pressure Gravity Sewer Main infrastructure improvement project.

The project will replace both a pressure sewer main and a gravity sewer main line, the water line and make ADA curb ramp improvements on SE High School Drive. The roadway will be overlayed once all the sewer and water lines work is finished. A detour will be in place to route traffic around the construction project. Access will be available to the residents who live within this area, as well as mail and garbage services. Pedestrian access will also be available along SE High School Drive.
