Truck Overturns On Hwy 20

Updated: Nov 8, 2019

On November 7th just after 3am State Police Trooper Tucker responded to a report of a truck that had crashed on Hwy 20 at milepost 15. Investigation showed that the driver of a chip truck, a 26-year old from Lebanon, was headed westbound when for an unknown reason he crossed the centerline and wend over the embankment into a creek.

The driver was able to get out of the truck and was transported to Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital. Trooper Tucker spoke to the driver at the hospital and the driver reported he did not have a memory of what happened to cause the crash. There were no indications of impairment and drowsy driving was not a reason for the crash.

It is estimated that around 8,000 pounds of chips were spilled into the creek. NW Firefighters were called out to cleanup the spill and remove any oil or gasoline from the truck before it could get into the waterway. ODOT is scheduled to remove the truck Saturday morning. Hwy 20 will be closed in both lanes from 1am to 5am while the truck is being removed.
