Winter Shelter Open

As colder weather arrives on the Oregon coast, the Lincoln County Community Shelter & Resource Center opened its doors on Nov. 1, providing a warm, safe place for community members who need refuge during the winter months. The shelter will operate nightly, with check-in beginning at 6 p.m. and check-out at 7 a.m., helping ensure that no one must face cold winter nights alone.
The winter shelter is made possible through the collective efforts of local governments,
service organizations, faith communities, volunteers, donors, and community members
who believe that everyone deserves safety, dignity, and compassion.
"Winter can be especially challenging for our neighbors experiencing homelessness,"
said Jennifer Beckner, Interim Program Manager. "The Winter Shelter is more than a
place to sleep. It's a place where people can find warmth, kindness, and connection
during some of the most difficult months of the year."
In addition to providing overnight shelter, the program helps connect guests with
community resources and support services. As the shelter opens for the season, community members are encouraged to get involved through volunteering, donating needed supplies, or supporting local organizations working to address homelessness in Lincoln County.
"Addressing homelessness is a community effort," said Beckner. "Every meal served,
every donation made, and every volunteer hour given helps create a safer and more
caring community for all of us."

About the Winter Shelter
The Community Shelter and Resource Center provides overnight shelter for community
members experiencing homelessness during the winter season. Through partnerships
with local organizations, volunteers, service providers, and community supporters, the
program works to ensure that individuals have access to a safe place to stay during
periods of cold weather while connecting them with additional resources and support.
Activities associated with the program include shelter operations, meals, health care
and coordination with community services providers.
