Follow the Yellow Brick Road with Coastal Act Productions as they bring their production of the classic fantasy The Wizard of Oz to the Newport Performing Arts Center, February 24
through March 11, 2023. Evening performances on Fridays, February 24, March 3 and 10 and Saturdays March 4 and 11 at 7pm. Matinee performances are Saturdays, February 25, March 4, and 11 at 2pm. One of the best-known stories in American pop culture, The Wizard of Oz follows the adventures of Dorothy Gale after she is swept away from her Kansas farm by a cyclone. After landing in the magical land of Oz, Dorothy embarks on a journey alongside the Scarecrow, Tin Man and Cowardly Lion.
Coastal Act Productions is a non-profit, 100% volunteer organization created to foster, promote and increase public knowledge and appreciation for the arts and cultural activities in Lincoln County. They pride themselves on providing the opportunity for youth to have a chance to participate in theatrical productions alongside adult actors and musicians. The results are shows with large ensemble casts of all ages. Over the years Coastal Act Productions has developed a reputation for bringing Lincoln County outstanding, high quality, well attended musicals.
This year is no different. The Wizard of Oz features over 60 cast members, plus a live orchestra. The lead roles are played by talented adult performers from our community. Under direction of Jody Hanna, the cast includes Kristine Rogers as Dorothy Gale, Cameron Garner as the Scarecrow, Zach Lindstrom as Tin Man and Gary Herd as Cowardly Lion with Kiera Morgan as The Wicked Witch and Annie Pusey as Glinda.
