On April 14, 2021, a Lincoln County Jury found Arthur Daniel Kelley guilty of multiple felony child sexual abuse crimes. Lincoln County Presiding Judge Sheryl Bachart sentenced Mr. Kelley to serve a total 111 years in prison for his crimes. Mr. Kelley sexually abused a child victim nearly every day for more than 5 years. During the sentencing hearing, Judge Bachart told the child "this was not your fault" and also told Mr. Kelley, "No sentence is proportionate to the harm you caused." Thanks to the brave actions of this young child in speaking up and telling law enforcement, a forensic interviewer and 12 strangers in a courtroom what happened to her, Mr. Kelley will never harm another child again.
This case was charged by DDA Chrystal Dickinson and tried by DDA Hollie Boggess. The District Attorney's office thanked the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office - Oregon for their hard work investigating this case and the Children's Advocacy Center of Lincoln County for conducting the forensic interviews and offering support to this child victim and her family.
April is child abuse prevention month and the DA's Office is committed to ensuring the safety of our children. Since January 4, 2021, the DA's Office, with the help of local law enforcement, has charged multiple child abuse offenders for acts of physical and sexual violence. Four of those cases have already resolved and resulted in convictions and sentences ranging between 25-111 years in prison. We will continue to pursue justice for victims of these crimes.
