Depoe Bay Family Displaced By Fire

On Friday, June 28, 2024 – The Depoe Bay Fire District responded to a residential structure fire at 20 Fir Ridge Road in Depoe Bay. The first arriving units on the scene reported a single-family dwelling with heavy smoke and fire emitting from the garage. All occupants were safely evacuated from the house, and no injuries to citizens or firefighters have been reported. However, with great sadness, we report the loss of a family cat in the fire. The structure has sustained major fire and smoke damage.

The Depoe Bay Fire District received the call at approximately 5:14 PM, and units were on the scene within 7 minutes of the initial 911 call. Depoe Bay Fire District Firefighters, with assistance from the Newport Fire Department and North Lincoln Fire & Rescue, worked diligently to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to nearby homes. The fire was brought under control in under 16 minutes. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

The Depoe Bay Fire District is grateful that all occupants were able to evacuate safely and that no citizens or firefighters were injured. Our deepest sympathies go out to the family for the loss of their pet. The Depoe Bay Fire District extends its gratitude to the following partner agencies for their invaluable assistance: Newport Fire Department, North Lincoln Fire Rescue, Pacific West Ambulance, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Lincoln County PUD, and NW Natural Gas. The Depoe Bay Fire District would like to remind residents to ensure their smoke alarms are functioning correctly and to have an emergency evacuation plan in place.
