On 4/21/2020 at approximately 6:30 PM Oregon State Police responded to a motor vehicle crash that occurred on Hwy-20 MP 15. When OSP arrived on scene a silver jeep grand Cherokee, was overturned on its side in a river near Elk City Rd. Toledo Police department was on scene with the driver, who was identified as 35-year old Lad J. Lapierre. In addition medics arrived prior to OSP, and the driver declined medical attention. The Jeep was traveling at a high rate of speed while negotiating a curve.
The driver swerved off the shoulder of the road, lost control, traveled into the oncoming lane, and crashed through the guardrail into the river. When OSP contacted Lapierre, he had a strong odor of alcohol coming from him. He consented to perform Safety Field Sobriety Test’s. He also displayed signs of impairment, during the tests and was arrested for DUII, Reckless Driving, and Criminal Mischief. He was then transported to the Lincoln County Jail to provide a breath sample that showed he had a blood alcohol content of 0.17%, and was cited and released.
