On 12/7/2022 at about 6:25 pm State Police Trooper Nathman responded to a call of a two vehicle, head-on crash on Highway 101 at the north end of Cape Foulweather near the Otter Crest Loop. Upon arriving, the vehicles were blocking both lanes of travel and Depoe Bay Fire was attempted to extricate one driver from her vehicle. Once the driver was removed, she reportedly made admissions to paramedics that she had been drinking and had taken a prescription drug. The driver, identified 38-year old Marne V. Grusing of Newport was transported by ambulance to Samaritan Pacific Communties hospital. A search warrant was granted for her blood and urine and a sample was obtained. Grusing was cited and released at the hospital for DUII, Reckless Driving, and 2-counts of Recklessly Endangering Another. Depoe Bay Fire and ODOT assisted on scene.
On 12/07/2022 at approximately 10:23pm a Blue Honda Civic was traveling westbound on
highway 20 near milepost 2 when the driver, identified as 26-year old Malasjah R. Anglin lost control causing the Honda to crash into a ditch. When contacted by State Police Trooper Stewart he noticed that Anglin showed signs of impairment and she reportedly admitted to consuming alcohol. She was arrested for DUII and the vehicle was towed due to damage.
On 12/8/2022 at 11:47am State Police Trooper Kolacz discovered a white Chevrolet pickup truck that was parked along the northbound shoulder near the top of Cape Foulweather on US-101 and was unoccupied. Further investigation found that the driver of a Honda Accord, 35-year old Brandie D. Young of Newport was driving northbound at this location when she lost control of the car due to speed and rain and she eventually crashed into the parked Chevrolet. Young was issued a citation and was able to drive out of the ditch.
