Four Cited For Wildlife Violations


On 11/1/2020 at about 6:11am, a single vehicle with three subjects inside encountered a Wildlife Enforcement Decoy (WED) in the Alsea Mountain Wildlife Management Unit (WMU). The driver of the vehicle illuminated the WED with the vehicles headlights while he and a passenger shot five high powered rounds at the WED from the roadway. A concealed OSP Fish and Wildlife Trooper observed and recorded the event and a traffic stop was initiated on the vehicle. Both the driver and passenger, identified as 38-year old Garcia, G. Camacho and 42-year old Ramiriz C. Mendosa of Philomath were criminally cited for take and possession of a buck deer, hunting during prohibited hours and hunting from across the highway. Two rifles were seized as evidence.


Then on 11/6/2020 at about 6:10pm, two subjects, a driver and a passenger identified as 41-year old Rusty Butler of Siletz and 50-year old Nathan T. Metcalf encountered a Wildlife Enforcement Decoy (WED) in the Stott Mountain Wildlife Management Unit (WMU). The subjects, while inside the vehicle and illuminated the WED with the vehicle's headlights and shot at the WED while standing next to their vehicle as it was parked on the public roadway. A concealed OSP Fish and Wildlife Trooper observed and recorded the event and a traffic stop was initiated on the vehicle. Both Butler and Metcalf were criminally cited and both rifles were seized as evidence.
