Haunted House At Frank Wade Park

Writer: Kiera MorganKiera Morgan

The Newport Recreation Center is partnering with Recess Outdoor Adventure School, Central Coast Humane Society, and Fright Nights by the Sea for a community Halloween Party. On Friday, October 18th, and Saturday, October 19th, the Clubhouse in Frank Wade Park will be transformed into a spooky haunted house to give you the fright of your life. Corey McIntosh has been putting on this event for several years at a private residence in Waldport, but to expand, he needed a new location. The Rec Center’s Clubhouse is the perfect place.

“Halloween has always been my favorite holiday,” said McIntosh, “I love scaring the heck out of people.” McIntosh is passionate about making this event as inclusive as possible, ensuring during the build that the haunted house will be accessible to wheelchairs and walkers. You can also customize your scare level before you enter using the Scare-O-Meter. While everyone is welcome, the haunted house is recommended for ages 10 and up.

For the younger crowd, Saturday night will include a host of family friendly activities besides the haunted house, such as glow games and a special Halloween pull string piñata at 6 pm. Delicious food from Tic Tac Tacos and beautiful face paintings from Gypsy Sister Soap Co. will also be available for purchase on Saturday. “We are excited to host this fun community event” said McKenzie Purdom, owner of Recess Outdoor Adventures, a local outdoor preschool. “This event is a fundraiser for our scholarship fund and a food-raiser for the Central Coast Humane Society. We look forward to seeing big smiles the glow games & bubble stations.”
