On Saturday, December 17, 2022, at approximately 5:56 PM, Oregon State Police responded to single vehicle crash on Hwy 18, near milepost 15, in Polk County. The preliminary investigation indicated a gray Toyota Avalon, operated by 51-year old Brandy D. Terry of Lincoln City, was traveling westbound on Hwy 18, when she failed to negotiate a curve, left the highway for unknown reasons, and collided with a tree. Terry was the sole occupant of the Toyota and upon emergency personnel arrival she was pronounced deceased the scene. A witness reported the Toyota was traveling at a high rate of speed when it went left the highway. Speed is being considered as a contributing factor to the collision. OSP was assisted by Grand Ronde Fire, the Polk County DA, the Polk County Medical Examiner, and ODOT.
