Pacific Seafood Donates To City Water Infrastructure

Pacific Seafood has donated over $240,000 to assist the City in its efforts to maintain,

upgrade, and address its aging water infrastructure. The donation will help the City of

Newport in its efforts to safely address the water needs of City residents and businesses.

“As a result of a corrected billing error, Pacific Seafood has agreed to forgive over

$240,000 in overcharges. Pacific Seafood’s generous action comes at a critical time for

the City’s water fund.

The City of Newport has several major projects that are in need of

immediate attention in order to ensure that City residents continue to have uninterrupted

access to water service.” said Spencer Nebel, City Manager. “Pacific Seafood’s donation

to the water fund is greatly appreciated and we thank them for their continued partnership

with the City.” Pacific Seafood operates five seafood processing facilities along Newport’s historic working waterfront, and is one of the City’s largest employers.

The commercial fishing industry as a whole is the largest single contributor to net earnings in Lincoln County. “Pacific Seafood is thankful for our longstanding partnership with the City of Newport,” said John Moody, General Manager for Pacific Seafood’s Newport operations. “We’re proudly part of this community, and proud to do what we can to help address community problems.”
