
On 5/27/21 at approximately 5PM multiple calls were received to Oregon State Police regarding a reckless driver westbound from milepost 19 of Highway 20 near Eddyville. The driver of the car described as a black spray painted Acura Vigor, was passing multiple vehicles on double yellow, non-passing lanes. The driver, identified as 31-year old James M. Kelly was stopped by Newport Police. He performed field sobriety tests and was arrested and charged with reckless driving, reckless endangering x3, and DUII. A blood search warrant was obtained and blood seized from Kelly, who was issued citations in lieu of lodging. Toledo PD Officers, Lincoln County Deputies and Newport PD Officers assisted with the arrest.
On 5/14/21 at approximately 4PM State Police Trooper Severson observed a southbound Ford Explorer driving with two deflated tires near South Beach State Park on Highway 101. Trooper Severson conducted a traffic stop and contacted the driver, identified as 41-year old Jason M. Weeks who reportedly stated he was unaware he was driving on deflated tires. Lincoln County Dispatch reported the SUV had previously struck the curb on the Yaquina Bay Bridge. Weeks exhibited signs of impairment and Trooper Severson observed a used needle on the passenger seat. After Weeks performed field sobriety tests he was taken into custody and was cited and released for DUII.

On 5/15/21 Oregon State Police (OSP) was dispatched to a two vehicle collision which occurred on hwy 101 near Moolock Beach. Lincoln County Sheriff's Deputies arrived on scene first and advised the offending driver had fled the scene. Deputies located the offending driver, identified as 19-year old Kobe M. Walbert of South Beach a short time later and detained him until OSP units arrived. A crash investigation was conducted which showed a black Cadillac was southbound and making and illegal pass when the driver lost control and rear-ended a Chevy Impala. The driver of the Impala was transported to Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. During a crash investigation the driver of the Cadillac exhibited numerous signs of impairment. He consented to and performed poorly on the safety field sobriety test's and was taken into custody for DUII. The driver provided a blood sample to law enforcement and admitted to consuming alcohol and other controlled substances prior to the crash.

On 5/16/2021 State Police responded to a crash near milepost 1.5 on Highway 18 when a westbound black Honda CRV crossed the center lane line and crashed into an eastbound Pontiac Vibe. The driver of the Honda was alone and signs of impairment were observed from this driver, identified as 26-year old Courtney R. Murata of Beaverton. The driver and passenger of the Pontiac were transported by ambulance to Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital in Lincoln City for treatment. Murata performed voluntary field sobriety tests and impairment continued to be observed. She was arrested and transported to the Lincoln City Police Department where she provided a breath sample indicating a 0.15 Blood Alcohol Content. She was cited in lieu of custody for DUII, Reckless Driving, and Reckless Endangering.
On 5/17/21 State Police Trooper Wertz was dispatched to a driving complaint involving a red sedan on 101 at the top of Otter Crest and located and stopped a red Nissan Sentra on Hwy 101 near Beverly Beach State Park. The driver and passenger exhibited numerous signs of impairment and there were open containers of alcohol and numerous cannabis products in plain sight within the car. The driver, identified as 24-year old Evan E. Hager consented to and performed poorly on safety field sobriety test's and was taken into custody for DUII. The passenger, identified as 20-year old Joshua R. Descamps of Tigard was cited for Minor in Possession. Hager was transported to Lincoln County Jail where he consented to a breath test rendering a result of .12% blood alcohol content.
