State Police Respond To Crashes And DUII's

On April 27th state police trooper Katsikis responded to a crash at highway 101 and 18. Investigation showed the driver of a GMC Yukon drove across the painted median from the northbound US-101/SR-18 connector leg into the right rear wheel of a Ford F150 pulling a 30' Heartland Mallard trailer. The resulting T-bone crash caused the properly secured trailer to break free of the receiver and safety chains and overturn in the westbound ditch. The Ford F150 spun around and came to rest facing westbound at the merge point
of the two eastbound lanes. The GMC drove approximately 1 mile before stopping at a wide spot. The driver and passenger of the Ford F150 were transported to Samaritan North Lincoln hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The driver and passengers of the GMC Yukon were assessed by North Lincoln Fire and Rescue crews at the scene and declined transport.
On 4/27/25 at approximately 7:48 pm State Police Trooper Wertz was dispatched to a two-car crash which occurred in Waldport at the intersection of highways 101 and 34. Investigation showed the 16-year old driver of a Toyota Camry, was driving southbound on highway 101 and attempting to turn east of highway SR 34 when it crashed into a Toyota 4 Runner headed northbound on highway 101 through the intersection. Witnesses stated the Camry attempted to proceed through the intersection on a flashing yellow arrow and failed to yield the right of way. One occupant was transported to Samaritan Pacific Communities
hospital in Newport by ambulance and was treated for non-life threating injuries.
On 4/28/25 at approximately 9:27 pm state police trooper Wertz stopped the driver of a Chrysler sedan on US 101 at Seal Rock for a routine traffic stop. Upon contact, the driver 23-year old Bryce L. Dabney exhibited numerous signs of impairment. She consented to and performed poorly on the administered safety field sobriety tests. Afterward she was taken into custody and transported to Lincoln County Jail where she consented to a
breath test rendering a result of 0.10% blood alcohol content.
On April 25th State Police Trooper Munsee stopped the driver of a Mazda MZ3 near the Yaquina Bay State Park on highway 101. Trooper Munsee ran the license of the driver who was identified as 21-year old Kyle M. McWilliams of Siletz it came back that he had a warrant and appeared to be driving while impaired. There were two passengers in the car age 18 and 19 who were also impaired. The two were cited and released. McWilliams was arrested and transported to the Lincoln County jail for the warrant, DUII, and reckless driving.
On 4/26/25 a red Ford Mustang traveling west near milepost 7 on highway-34 when the car went off the road and crashed. The driver, identified as 56-year old Kerwin R. Taylor of Independence, was taken to the Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital in Newport. After being treated for his injuries from the crash he was cited and released for driving while
impaired and reckless driving.
