Lincoln County's annual fair is getting a makeover this year, relocating from its traditional fairgrounds to Chinook Winds Casino in Lincoln City from July 3-5. Fair Manager Heather Tower announced the changes during an update to the Lincoln County Board of Commissioners. The change in venue is due to renovations taking place at the Lincoln County Commons, where the fair has traditionally been held.
Tower told commissioners at their June 4th board meeting that the Commons area in Newport will be used for 4-H youth to showcase their animals and projects, while the main event will be taking place at the casino. Highlights include a full NPRA rodeo on July 4th, and 5th with matinee performances at 1 PM, along with family-friendly attractions like bouncy houses, camel rides, and food trucks, located throughout the Casino grounds.
"We're reaching a different demographic and keeping the fair tradition alive," Tower explained. Open class exhibitors can still submit crafts, artwork, and preservation projects, with drop-off locations in both Newport and the casino. The event remains free to attend, with only rodeo tickets requiring purchase. Local businesses in North County have enthusiastically supported the new venue, promising a fresh take on the traditional county fair.
