Lincoln County Unemployment Rate

Lincoln County’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 4.8 percent in November, up slightly the previous month when it was at 4.6% and essentially unchanged from the year before when it was at 4.7%. The counties unemployment rate remains higher than the statewide rate at 3.9% and the national rate at 3.7%.

Seasonally adjusted nonfarm payroll employment dropped by 100 jobs in November to 18,560 jobs. Seasonally adjusted figures compare expected changes with actual changes. A loss of 250 jobs was expected for the month, but the county shed 350 jobs.

Private-sector employment fell by 390 jobs, and government employment rose by 40. Leisure and hospitality cut 210 jobs, and food manufacturing shed 190 jobs. Retail trade added 70 jobs. Local government education added 40 jobs. Other industries had smaller changes. November’s total nonfarm employment was 270 more than one year before, an increase of 1.5 percent.

The private sector added 500 jobs, and government employment fell by 230. Industries adding the most jobs over the year were leisure and hospitality and financial activities. Food manufacturing was down 80 jobs over the year. About 350 jobs were reclassified from state government to private sector education and health services.
