Newport Police Detectives are still seeking any information regarding a homicide from 2018. On Friday, August 17, 2018, the Newport Police Department was called to a reported suspicious death at the Agate Beach wayside. Responding Officers located the body of 29-year-old Nikolaus Hinton of Newport.
An autopsy was conducted by the Oregon State Medical Examiner’s office, and it was determined that Hinton died of homicidal violence. The Lincoln County Major Crime Team was activated, and has been following up on leads regarding the manner and reason Hinton was murdered. Investigators believe Hinton was murdered at a different location and his body had been left at the Agate Beach wayside.
