Olalla Reservior To Close This Summer

Georgia-Pacific Toledo will be closing Olalla Reservoir beginning April 1st and extending through September 30th. If possible, we will open sooner but that is contingent upon work status. This closure is for GP to conduct necessary forest management activities that will maintain the long-term health of the forest. G.P. officials said they understand this will not be popular news, but closure of the company-owned reservoir is necessary for several reasons, including:

· Addressing damage from the January 2024 ice storm.

· Removing dead and dying trees that have potential to cause insect outbreaks and fuel for wildfires.

· Reduce tree density to help create a more diverse habitat.

Beginning April 1, Olalla will be locked and barricaded, with signs stating that the reservoir is closed. GP security contractors will patrol the area, and trespassers will be reported to law enforcement. If you have any questions, please call Public Affairs Manager, Andrea Formo, at 541-270-0504.
