The Waldport Arts Group is now actively involved in bringing to reality an arts center in Waldport. The Waldport Arts Group is seeking members of the community to join in this special project.
The proposed Alsea Bay Arts Center will serve the Southern Lincoln County community through art, music, performances, dance, classes and a local theater troupe. The Center will not only serve youth and the community, but it will become an important art destination for tourists exploring the Oregon Coast .
According to Greg Holland President of the Waldport Arts Group this has long been a dream of its founders, and something that south Lincoln County has desperately needed.
The group has raised some funding and is working with Umpqua Bank to have a building to operate out of.
Greg said they have received a lot of support from the county commissioners and other organizations such as travel Oregon , the Oregon Coast Visitors Association and Art in Oregon . The Waldport Arts Group is reaching out to South Lincoln County residents who would like to offer their talents, skills, and enthusiasm and have it be put to good use.
The public is invited to the official launch party, scheduled for Tuesday April 9th at 5:30 p.m. at the Waldport Interpretive Center . A short program at 6:00 p.m. will introduce the community to the project. Food and soft drinks will also be served.
