The Toledo City Council unanimously voted to hire David Clyne as their interim city manager. He was one of three candidates who were interviewed. The council felt strongly about Mr. Clyne as an interim manager because of his recent work in the city of Cottage Grove, which faced similar upheaval as Toledo. Over the past 8-months the city of Toledo has gone through rough times with the investigation of the previous city manager, the interim manager and two fire department staff leaving with little notice. The fire department also lost many of its volunteers and there were complaints and investigations with the fire department.
Mayor Rod Cross said he is confident that Mr. Clyne can right the ship. He will be starting as interim city manager on Monday. According to Cross the an interim city manager has previously been paid about the same as the permanent city manager when accounting for PERS and health insurance. Instead of offering the expensive benefits, since he is a temporary employee, the city will be paying him a stipend to find housing within Lincoln County during his work here. Clyne will be starting as interim city manager on Monday. The search for a permanent city manager will be starting later this month.
