Toledo Terminates City Manager's Employment

Wednesday, Toledo City Council held an executive session to hear the report given from the investigation into city manager Doug Wiggins. They held another executive session during their regular meeting for over an hour to discuss whether or not they were going to keep him on as city manager or terminate his employment. When the council returned to regular session the Council voted 4 to 3 to terminate the employment of the city manager, Doug Wiggins. He has been the subject of an investigation after a complaint was filed against him.

Because the allegations against the city manager were a personnel matter, the council was unable to comment on the reason for his termination. The council already has a plan in place for taking care of city invoices and making sure payroll is met with Police Chief Pace and Public Works Director Brian Lorimor working together, that will continue until the city is able to hire a new city manager. They city also made the attorney Mike Adams a signer of contracts. The next step moving forward will be to hire an interim city manager, to handle city operations while the city begins the process for finding a permanent replacement for city manager.
